About Asif Khan’s Tomb
The Tomb of Asif Khan — brother of Noor Jahan, father-in-law of Shah Jahan and a leading Mughal noble — stands beside Jahangir’s at Shahdara. Its once brilliantly tiled and marble-clad dome, though stripped over time, retains a powerful presence, and conservation continues.
Together with the neighbouring tombs it makes Shahdara a rewarding stop for Mughal history enthusiasts.
Highlights
- Central dome — A large bulbous dome over an octagonal chamber.
- Persian influence — Design echoing Central Asian tomb traditions.
- Charbagh — Set in a formal four-part garden.
- The Shahdara trio — Completing the riverside tomb complex.
