Overview

Availability note: Basant is Lahore’s beloved spring kite festival, but it was banned in the mid-2000s after dangerous kite string and celebratory gunfire caused deaths and injuries. A regulated revival was held in February 2026 under strict rules, though it again saw casualties and remains under legal and court scrutiny, so whether, and when, it runs in any given year is genuinely uncertain. This tour only runs if Basant is officially permitted for your travel dates. When it is, we host you on a vetted, organised rooftop, traditional cotton string only, well away from traffic and open streets, so you get the colour, music and atmosphere of the festival without the real risks of informal celebrations. If the festival isn’t running, we’re glad to arrange a spring-in-Lahore experience instead.

Good to know

We only run this tour if Basant is officially permitted for your dates, we will never take you to an unregulated or informal celebration.
If held, only traditional cotton string is used at our venue; sharp or metallic string is a serious hazard and is never part of our experience.
We avoid road travel by motorcycle and minimise time on open streets during the festival, when stray string and celebratory gunfire are the real dangers.

Dress & etiquette

Accessibility

Parts of this tour involve walking on uneven ground, steps, and in places soft sand, and a few sites have limited step-free access. Is Basant happening this year?

Is this tour safe?

We only operate when the festival is officially permitted, and only from a vetted, organised rooftop venue using traditional cotton string, we don’t take guests to informal street-level celebrations, which are where most injuries occur.

What if Basant is cancelled after I book?

We won’t take your money for a Basant experience that isn’t officially running, if the festival is cancelled or restricted for your dates, we’ll refund this tour or suggest an alternative spring experience.

Can we fly kites ourselves?

Where the venue and rules allow, yes, using traditional cotton string only, we never provide or permit metallic or glass-coated string.

Is this tour private?

Yes, every tour is fully private: your own party, your own licensed guide and your own air-conditioned vehicle. Nothing is shared with strangers, and the pace flexes around you.

Do you provide hotel or airport pickup?

Yes. We collect you from your Lahore hotel or from Allama Iqbal International Airport at no extra cost within the city, and drop you back afterwards. We track your flight, so delays are no problem.

Can this tour be customized?

What languages do your guides speak?

English-speaking licensed guides are our standard. Italian, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Arabic-speaking guides can be arranged on request, subject to availability.

No payment is taken online. We confirm availability and a firm total price first; a deposit secures your dates, with the balance due before or at the start of the tour. Bank transfer, Wise, card and PayPal are accepted.
