Overview

This is the trip that shows Pakistan’s astonishing range: the Mughal splendour of Lahore, then the soaring Karakoram at Hunza — one of the world’s most beautiful mountain valleys, framed by peaks like Rakaposhi and Ladyfinger, with the historic Baltit and Altit Forts, the turquoise Attabad Lake and famously long-lived, hospitable communities.

We start in Lahore, then head north to Hunza (flying to Gilgit or driving the Karakoram Highway from Islamabad, conditions permitting). It’s seasonal — roughly spring to autumn — and priced on request around routing, season and duration.

Good to know

  • Seasonal: roughly April–October; winters restrict access.
  • Mountain flights to Gilgit are weather-dependent — we always plan a road contingency.
  • Higher altitude and long mountain drives — a reasonable fitness level helps.
  • One of the most rewarding trips in Asia when it comes together.

Before you go

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes for uneven old-city ground
  • Sun protection in summer (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) or warm layers in winter
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Modest clothing for mosques and shrines
  • Some cash for snacks, tips and small purchases
  • Your camera or phone, and any personal medication
  • An overnight bag and your passport/ID for intercity travel

Dress & etiquette

Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is best; women need a headscarf inside mosque and gurdwara prayer halls (our guides carry spares) and shoes come off at religious sites. Please ask before photographing people. See what to wear and mosque etiquette.

Accessibility

Parts of this tour involve walking on uneven ground and some steps, and a few heritage sites have limited step-free access. We can adapt the pace and route for reduced mobility, wheelchairs, families with strollers or older travelers — tell us your needs and see our accessible Lahore tours guide.

FAQs

Fly or drive to Hunza?
Flying to Gilgit is quickest but weather-dependent; the Karakoram Highway drive is spectacular but long. We plan for both and adapt.
When’s the best time?
Spring blossom (April) and autumn colour (October) are magical; summer is peak season and very green.
Is this tour private?
Yes — every tour is fully private: your own party, your own licensed guide and your own air-conditioned vehicle. Nothing is shared with strangers, and the pace flexes around you.
Do you provide hotel or airport pickup?
Yes. We collect you from your Lahore hotel or from Allama Iqbal International Airport at no extra cost within the city, and drop you back afterwards. We track your flight, so delays are no problem.
Can this tour be customized?
Absolutely. Tell us your interests, pace and any must-sees or must-avoids, and we tailor the day around you — add a food stop, swap a site, start earlier, or slow it down.
What languages do your guides speak?
English-speaking licensed guides are our standard. Italian, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Arabic-speaking guides can be arranged on request, subject to availability.
How and when do I pay?
No payment is taken online. We confirm availability and a firm total price first; a deposit secures your dates, with the balance due before or at the start of the tour. Bank transfer, Wise, card and PayPal are accepted.
What is your cancellation policy?
Fair and flexible — exact terms are confirmed in writing when you book. See our cancellation & refund policy for details.
Is Lahore safe for tourists?
The main visitor areas are busy, welcoming and well-policed, and all our tours run with licensed guides and private drivers. See our honest safety overview and check your government’s current advisory.
What should I wear?
Modest, comfortable clothing (shoulders and knees covered); women need a headscarf inside mosque prayer halls, and our guides carry spares. Comfortable walking shoes help. See what to wear.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Yes — vegetarian, halal-only (everything in Lahore is halal), mild-spice and allergy-aware options are all normal requests. Just tell us when booking.
Is this tour suitable for families and children?
Yes — we tailor the pace for families, with child seats and kid-friendly stops on request. Let us know ages and we’ll plan accordingly.
What is the best time of year for this tour?
October to March is most comfortable (dry, sunny, 15–25°C). We run year-round and adapt timing to the heat in summer — see best time to visit.
