Overview

Mohenjo Daro (“Mound of the Dead Men”), near Larkana in Sindh, is one of the largest and best-preserved cities of the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilization, laid out on a grid over 4,500 years ago, complete with a Great Bath, granaries and some of the world’s earliest urban drainage. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it rewards travelers curious about civilizations older than Egypt’s pyramids.

Because Mohenjo Daro sits roughly 900 km south of Lahore, this trip combines a short domestic flight with private ground transport, so you spend your time exploring rather than driving. We handle flights, transfers, guiding and hotels, priced on request for your dates and group size.

Itinerary

1. Day 1 · LahoreLahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and a Walled City taster in the afternoon; overnight in Lahore.
2. Day 2 · Fly to Sukkur, drive to Mohenjo DaroMorning flight Lahore–Sukkur, then a scenic drive to Larkana; afternoon first look at the ruins and site museum; overnight near Mohenjo Daro.
3. Day 3 · Mohenjo Daro in depthA full day at the site, the Great Bath, Citadel mound, granary, stupa and residential streets, with your guide explaining what’s been uncovered and what still isn’t understood.
4. Day 4 · Return to LahoreDrive back to Sukkur and fly to Lahore, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.

Good to know

• Best visited November–February; Sindh gets extremely hot the rest of the year.
• Domestic flight schedules to Sukkur change seasonally, we confirm exact timings once booked.
• The site is largely open, flat ground with some uneven excavated areas; a hat and water are essential.
• Combines well with a Karachi extension if you’d like to fly out from there instead of back to Lahore.

Dress & etiquette

Parts of this tour involve walking on uneven ground, steps, and in places soft sand, and a few sites have limited step-free access.
