Overview
Rather than one fixed itinerary, this tour is built around Lahore’s actual festival calendar, which changes every year. Tell us your dates and we’ll tell you honestly what’s on, then arrange tickets, seating, transport and a guide who can explain what you’re seeing.
What might be on, depending on your dates
- National Horse & Cattle Show (roughly late March–April), tent-pegging, folk dances, float parades and livestock exhibitions at Fortress Stadium; one of the biggest events on Punjab’s cultural calendar. Exact dates shift year to year, we confirm the current schedule before booking.
- Mela Chiraghan (Festival of Lights) (around March, tied to the Basant/spring season), a centuries-old shrine festival at Madho Lal Hussain’s tomb, with lamps, music and an all-night atmosphere.
- Lahore Literary Festival (usually February), talks, panels and readings drawing writers and thinkers from across South Asia and beyond; see our LLF guide.
- World Performing Arts Festival (usually November, Alhamra Arts Council), theatre, music and dance from Pakistan and abroad.
- Independence Day (14 August), flag ceremonies, illuminations and a patriotic citywide atmosphere; see our Independence Day guide.
- Basant, Lahore’s historic kite festival has an uncertain year-to-year status; if it’s officially running for your dates, see our separate Lahore Basant Tour rather than this one.
We only confirm and price this tour once we know what’s genuinely on for your dates, nothing is guessed or oversold.

Good to know
- Festival dates in Pakistan often shift or get confirmed close to the event, we always check the current official schedule before booking, not just historical patterns.
- Some events (like Basant) have an uncertain legal/operational status, we’re upfront if something isn’t confirmed to run.
- Crowds at major festivals like the Horse & Cattle Show can be intense, your guide manages logistics and comfort.
- This tour pairs naturally with general Lahore sightseeing on non-festival days.
Before you go
What to bring
- Comfortable walking shoes for uneven ground
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) or warm layers for cold desert/winter nights
- A refillable water bottle
- Modest clothing for mosques and shrines
- Some cash for snacks, tips and small purchases
- Your camera or phone, and any personal medication
- An overnight bag and your passport/ID for intercity travel
Dress & etiquette
Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is best; women need a headscarf inside mosque and gurdwara prayer halls (our guides carry spares) and shoes come off at religious sites. Please ask before photographing people. See what to wear and mosque etiquette.

Parts of this tour involve walking on uneven ground, steps, and in places soft sand, and a few sites have limited step-free access.
