Overview
Harappa gave its name to the Harappan (Indus Valley) Civilization — one of the world’s earliest urban cultures, flourishing around 2600–1900 BCE alongside Egypt and Mesopotamia. While much lies in excavated foundations rather than standing monuments, the site and its museum offer a genuinely moving encounter with deep human history: grid-planned streets, granaries, drainage and the artefacts of a sophisticated Bronze Age society.
About 180 km from Lahore (~2.5 hours each way), it’s a solid day trip with an early start — best suited to travellers with a real interest in archaeology and ancient history. Priced on request as it’s a specialist day.
