Mughal paradise gardens and green escapes — Shalimar, Bagh-e-Jinnah and more.Real photography to be added

Overview

The Mughals built gardens as earthly visions of paradise, and Lahore’s finest — the terraced, fountain-filled Shalimar Gardens laid out for Shah Jahan in 1641 — is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This relaxed half-day pairs Shalimar with other green and tomb-set spaces: the colonial-era Bagh-e-Jinnah (Lawrence Gardens) and the garden settings of Jahangir’s and Noor Jahan’s tombs.

It’s the calmest tour we offer — ideal for a hot afternoon, older travellers, or anyone craving space and shade between the monuments.

Itinerary

  1. Shalimar Gardens (UNESCO)Three descending terraces, marble pavilions and (historically) 400+ fountains.
  2. Bagh-e-JinnahThe leafy colonial-era park with its botanical garden and old library.
  3. Tomb gardens (optional)The garden settings of Jahangir’s and Noor Jahan’s tombs at Shahdara.

Before you go

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes for uneven old-city ground
  • Sun protection in summer (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) or warm layers in winter
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Modest clothing for mosques and shrines
  • Some cash for snacks, tips and small purchases
  • Your camera or phone, and any personal medication

Dress & etiquette

Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is best; women need a headscarf inside mosque and gurdwara prayer halls (our guides carry spares) and shoes come off at religious sites. Please ask before photographing people. See what to wear and mosque etiquette.
