Overview

Rather than one fixed itinerary, this tour is built around Lahore’s actual festival calendar, which changes every year. Tell us your dates and we’ll tell you honestly what’s on, then arrange tickets, seating, transport and a guide who can explain what you’re seeing.

What might be on, depending on your dates

  • National Horse & Cattle Show (roughly late March–April), tent-pegging, folk dances, float parades and livestock exhibitions at Fortress Stadium; one of the biggest events on Punjab’s cultural calendar. Exact dates shift year to year, we confirm the current schedule before booking.
  • Mela Chiraghan (Festival of Lights) (around March, tied to the Basant/spring season), a centuries-old shrine festival at Madho Lal Hussain’s tomb, with lamps, music and an all-night atmosphere.
  • Lahore Literary Festival (usually February), talks, panels and readings drawing writers and thinkers from across South Asia and beyond; see our LLF guide.
  • World Performing Arts Festival (usually November, Alhamra Arts Council), theatre, music and dance from Pakistan and abroad.
  • Independence Day (14 August), flag ceremonies, illuminations and a patriotic citywide atmosphere; see our Independence Day guide.
  • Basant, Lahore’s historic kite festival has an uncertain year-to-year status; if it’s officially running for your dates, see our separate Lahore Basant Tour rather than this one.

We only confirm and price this tour once we know what’s genuinely on for your dates, nothing is guessed or oversold.

Good to know

  • Festival dates in Pakistan often shift or get confirmed close to the event, we always check the current official schedule before booking, not just historical patterns.
  • Some events (like Basant) have an uncertain legal/operational status, we’re upfront if something isn’t confirmed to run.
  • Crowds at major festivals like the Horse & Cattle Show can be intense, your guide manages logistics and comfort.
  • This tour pairs naturally with general Lahore sightseeing on non-festival days.

Before you go

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes for uneven ground
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) or warm layers for cold desert/winter nights
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Modest clothing for mosques and shrines
  • Some cash for snacks, tips and small purchases
  • Your camera or phone, and any personal medication
  • An overnight bag and your passport/ID for intercity travel

Dress & etiquette

Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is best; women need a headscarf inside mosque and gurdwara prayer halls (our guides carry spares) and shoes come off at religious sites. Please ask before photographing people. See what to wear and mosque etiquette.

Accessibility

Parts of this tour involve walking on uneven ground, steps, and in places soft sand, and a few sites have limited step-free access. We can adapt the pace and route for reduced mobility, wheelchairs, families with strollers or older travelers, tell us your needs and see our accessible Lahore tours guide.

Cancellation

Flexible, fair terms, the exact conditions for your dates are confirmed in writing when you book. Full details on our cancellation & refund policy page.

FAQs

How do I know what festival will be on during my visit?
Tell us your dates and we’ll check the current official calendar and tell you honestly what’s confirmed, tentative, or unlikely, we don’t guess or oversell.
Can this include the Horse & Cattle Show?
Yes, when your dates align with the confirmed show dates for that year (typically late March–April), we arrange seating and explain the events as they unfold.
What if no major festival falls on my dates?
We’re upfront about that and can either adjust your dates if you have flexibility, or build a great non-festival Lahore itinerary instead.
Does this include Basant?
Basant has its own separate, carefully-caveated tour (see our Lahore Basant Tour) since its status is uncertain year to year, we don’t bundle it into this general festivals tour.
Is this tour private?
Yes, every tour is fully private: your own party, your own licensed guide and your own air-conditioned vehicle. Nothing is shared with strangers, and the pace flexes around you.
Do you provide hotel or airport pickup?
Yes. We collect you from your Lahore hotel or from Allama Iqbal International Airport at no extra cost within the city, and drop you back afterwards. We track your flight, so delays are no problem.
Can this tour be customized?
Absolutely. Tell us your interests, pace and any must-sees or must-avoids, and we tailor the trip around you.
What languages do your guides speak?
English-speaking licensed guides are our standard. Italian, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Arabic-speaking guides can be arranged on request, subject to availability.
How and when do I pay?
No payment is taken online. We confirm availability and a firm total price first; a deposit secures your dates, with the balance due before or at the start of the tour. Bank transfer, Wise, card and PayPal are accepted.
What is your cancellation policy?
Fair and flexible, exact terms are confirmed in writing when you book. See our cancellation & refund policy for details.
Is Pakistan safe for tourists?
