Lahore Spring Festival & Spring Events: A Seasonal Guide

Spring (roughly February to April) is one of the loveliest times to be in Lahore β€” mild days, blossoming gardens and a calendar of cultural events. Here’s a guide to the city’s spring festivals and how to enjoy them.

Basant: the spring kite festival

Basant is Lahore’s iconic spring festival β€” rooftops full of families, yellow clothing, music and skies filled with colourful kites. After being banned for around two decades on safety grounds, it was revived as a regulated three-day event in Lahore in early February 2026 under a new kite-flying ordinance.

An honest safety note. The revival was hugely popular but also marred by deaths and injuries from kite string and celebratory gunfire, and it has since faced legal and court scrutiny. That means its future β€” whether it runs, and on what dates β€” is genuinely uncertain from year to year. If you hope to catch it, confirm the current official status before you plan, watch only from a safe, organised rooftop venue, and avoid travelling by motorcycle during the festival. We can advise on the latest status and arrange safe viewing if it’s on. Read more on our Basant history & status page.

Spring flower shows & Jashn-e-Baharan

Spring is Lahore’s blooming season, and the city’s parks host flower exhibitions and β€˜Jashn-e-Baharan’ (spring festival) events β€” colourful displays of flowers, plants and horticulture at venues like Racecourse (Jilani) Park and the historic Lawrence Gardens (Bagh-e-Jinnah). Dates vary each year; ask us what’s on during your visit.

National Horse & Cattle Show

One of Lahore’s most traditional spring spectacles β€” prize livestock, horse and camel dances, tent pegging and folk performances. Its scheduling has been irregular in recent years, so treat it as a bonus rather than something to build a trip around. More here.

Lahore Literary Festival

The city’s flagship celebration of books, arts and ideas usually takes place early in the year (historically around February) β€” a treat for culturally-minded travelers. Dates and venue vary; see our festival guide.

Why spring is a great time to visit

Beyond the festivals, spring brings comfortable sightseeing weather before the summer heat, blossoming gardens like Shalimar, and a lively city atmosphere. See our full Lahore in spring guide and the best time to visit.

Plan a spring trip

Tell us your dates and we’ll tell you exactly what’s on β€” festivals, flower shows and events β€” and build a spring itinerary around them, with safe arrangements for anything crowd-heavy. Plan your spring visit β†’
