Lahore is one of the most affordable great cities you can visit โ you can eat like a king and see world-class heritage for very little. Here’s how to do it on a budget.
Eat cheap (and brilliantly)
Lahore’s best food is its cheapest. A street-food feast costs a few dollars โ nihari, kebabs, halwa puri and kulfi. This is where budget travel and the best experience overlap.
Stay for less
Old-city guesthouses and Gulberg budget hotels and hostels are clean, friendly and inexpensive. Read reviews and prioritise location.
Get around cheaply
Ride-hailing (Careem/inDrive) is very cheap; the Metrobus and Orange Line cost next to nothing for longer hops.
Free & nearly-free things to do
- Wander the Walled City and its bazaars.
- The Wagah Border ceremony is free to attend (just transport).
- Monument tickets are typically only a dollar or two.
Where to spend a little
A half-day guide for the Fort and Walled City is inexpensive and hugely improves the experience. See real numbers in our Lahore cost guide. Budget travelers can have an incredible time here.
