Eid in Lahore: What to Expect

Eid — both Eid-ul-Fitr (after Ramadan) and Eid-ul-Adha — is a major festive celebration in Lahore, with special prayers, new clothes, family gatherings, feasting and a joyful public mood. For visitors it’s colourful and welcoming, though many businesses close for the first day or two, and travel and hotels get busy, so plan ahead.

Eid-ul-Fitr

Marks the end of Ramadan: grand morning prayers, sweet dishes (sheer khurma), new clothes, and families out celebrating. Bazaars beforehand are electric with Eid shopping.

Eid-ul-Adha

The festival of sacrifice, with communal prayers and Qurbani; expect a quieter, more home-and-family focus, with lots of BBQ and meat dishes.

Tips

Book hotels and transport early, expect first-day closures, and enjoy the hospitality — you may well be invited to celebrate. Dates shift yearly; ask us for the current ones.
